Introduction from Rick Du Boisson, President SynQuest
Welcome to the 2007 SynQuest Research Chemical
Catalog, our fourth edition, listing more than 3,500 fluorochemicals. Our new
web site (www.synquestlabs.com or www.SQL.bz (mirror site) ) and CD-ROM catalog now features
substructure searching and lists property information. During the past three
years SynQuest has maintained its focus on fluorine chemistry and extended its range
of reagents with new materials requested by our customers and from our internal
R&D programs for the development of new products. We have also implemented
cost savings by careful sourcing of raw materials and by scaling up processes
for better economy of scale – our efforts have resulted in significant price
reductions for many products!
Since our last catalog was published SynQuest has
opened new manufacturing facilities more than doubling our production area,
installed new autoclaves (up to 5 gal) in our high pressure area. We also
created an independent QA/QC dept., built an analytical lab, and added new
instrumentation to enhance our analytical capabilities. Extension of our
chemical warehousing and installation of a walk in cold-room has allowed us to
increase our inventory for more rapid turn around of orders. We have also added
another 4,000 sq. ft. of office space for customer service and administration.
To supplement our manufacturing capabilities and help keep production costs down SynQuest sources products and raw materials from all over the world. However, unlike simple traders, we carefully analyze all incoming goods and provide certificates of analysis developed in our own analytical facilities. We are routinely in touch with fluorine chemists in China, Europe, Japan and Russia. If you can’t see what you are looking for in our catalog, then give us a call. We know where to find literally thousands of other fluorinated materials and if we don’t know of a source, we may be able to offer custom synthesis services.
Since the acquisition of SynQuest by Central Glass
(Japan) in 2002, the two companies have worked together closely taking
advantage of the different strengths to be found within the two organizations. Larger
scale production can be moved from the lab, through process development and
pilot scale at SynQuest and then on to Central Glass pilot and full scale
production facilities. This offers customers a seamless transition from small
scale laboratory research and proof of concept through to full
commercialization – Central Glass also has FDA inspected cGMP facilities for
pharmaceutical applications. Patented technology from Central Glass for the
manufacture of chiral compounds has been transferred to SynQuest and we are now
producing lab quantities of several novel chiral products. SynQuest is also a
bulk stocking location Central Glass products and particularly for triflic acid
and anhydride which have to be shipped by ocean from Japan. (Central Glass is
the World’s largest manufacturer of triflic acid).
At
SynQuest we recognize that a research chemicals catalog business is a service industry.
Our aim is to provide first class service by responding quickly to your
inquiries, offering competitive prices, unique products, timely shipments, and
by providing competent technical support.
